"Blood answers blood."
The House Vermil Chronicle
The Story

Karn's forge has burned for four hundred years without going out. It burned through the Sundering. It burns now.

The last Iron King drank in Vermil halls. He died in a Vermil bed. Vermil did not kill him — but Vermil is what the realm remembers.

Raised at Karn by Lady Roswyn Vermil, still Marshal at eighty. She has sworn to place the crown on her grandson's brow or on his pyre.

Every red host marches to the same drum: blood answers blood. If you would ride with Vermil, ride to answer a wrong. If you would ride against them, ride fast.
Vermil held the southern forges for three centuries under charter of the Iron Kings. When the crown fell, the forges did not go cold — and the House that fed the realm its steel says the House that fed the realm its steel now inherits it.
Vengeance, first. Ironhold's last king died in Vermil arms — a poisoning they did not commit but were blamed for. Every red banner that rises is a demand that the accusation be answered in fire.
Founded by Ser Alric Vermil, a smith turned marshal, who took a hill of iron at knifepoint and turned it into a city. His descendants married into the throne, forged its crown, and were the first to be called traitor when it broke.
Vermil holds the southern reaches, the Great Forge of Karn, and the loyalty of every keep that has ever needed a sword. Their armies are the largest. Their patience is the shortest.
