Combat in Ironhold Empire
Every battle in Ironhold Empire is fought against a real player or a real garrison — no scripted skirmishes. You pick the army, the target and the moment, then live with the report.
Seventeen troop tiers, three roles
Armies are built from peasants and militia all the way up to heavy cavalry, sappers and war elephants. Infantry holds the line, cavalry punches through thin flanks, ranged units grind down defenders, and sappers are the only troops that can tear down enemy buildings. Bring the wrong mix and a smaller army will beat you.
March timers change everything
Attacks are not instant. Every march has travel time based on distance, your slowest unit and your honor standing. That window is the game: defenders can rally reinforcements, raise a shield, or empty their treasury into the hidden vault before your troops land.
Scout before you swing
Your Watchtower gives estimated troop counts on inbound marches, and scouting missions reveal a target's garrison, walls and stored resources — unless their counter-intelligence is stronger than your cunning. Champions add battle stats, gear and skins on top of raw troop numbers.
Reports that actually explain the loss
After every fight you get a visual battle report: forces on both sides, casualties per unit, loot hauled home, buildings damaged and champion performance. Defenders always see the full picture of what hit them.

Frequently asked
- Is combat real-time or turn-based?
- Neither. You commit an army and a march timer runs in real time; the battle resolves the moment your troops arrive, and a full report explains every loss.
- Can I be attacked while offline?
- Yes, but your walls, garrison, watchtower warnings and shield items all keep working while you sleep. Newer keeps are also protected by the honor system.
- Do I need to pay to win fights?
- No. Troop composition, research and wall levels decide battles. Writs only shorten timers, they never add combat power.
